PANORA — Visiting Van Meter won both sides of a WCAC triangular at Lake Panorama National Friday, with the hosts finishing second twice while Earlham was third in both matches.
Van Meter (187), Panorama (230) and Earlham (268) were the girls scores, with Van Meter (176), Panorama (181) and Earlham (191) the final boys standings.
Anna Duis led the Panorama girls with a 53, with Jordan Douglass shooting a 56. Rounds of 60 from Madi Fear and of 61 from Cierra Wright were both used for the team total, with Abby Cobb (63) and Lauren McClatchey (64) also playing for the varsity.
Medalist and runner-up London Wille (41) and Molly Carey (44) paced Van Meter, with Kylie Carey (47) and Morgan Robinson (55) also scoring. Elsa Abrahamson (59) and Bekah Walker (62) did not have their scores utilized.
Scoring for Earlham were Meredith Hochstetler (59), Ella Goodrich (63), Kaylee Hohertz (69) and Sophia Balch (77), with Ashleigh Weesmer (85) also in action.
The Panther girls had three junior varsity players make the nine-hole circuit. Chloe Webster fired a 56, Alex Kurtz a 65 and Taylor Rabikis a 69.
“I am pleased with our progress,” Panorama girls head coach Melissa Hochstetler said. “I think if we had seen some more favorable weather we would be way better. We have lots of talent and the girls are all eager to keep learning.”
Kolby Shacklerford led the Panorama boys with a medalist round of 39, with Van Meter’s Anthony Lowman and Parker Fryar tying for runner-up medalist with rounds of 43.
No other boys scoring was provided.
The Panther girls host their annual 18-hole invitational today, with both squads joining Des Moines Christian at WCV (5×80 in Menlo) Tuesday. The Panorama boys are then off for the rest of the week, but the girls team will play 18 holes at the Woodward-Granger Invite Thursday and then play 18 again Saturday at Kuemper Catholic.
