Absentee voting to start May 7 for primary election

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 5 for the 2018 primary election.

Dallas County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Julia Helm announced Monday that absentee voting begins Monday, May 7 for the June primary election.

Absentee ballots for the Tuesday, June 5 primary election may be cast in the auditor’s office at 210 N. 10th St. in Adel during regular office hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The deadline for absentee voting in Monday, June 4 at 5 p.m.

Absentee ballots must be requested in writing, Helm said. Forms are available at the auditor’s office, on the Dallas County website and the Iowa Secretary of State’s website.

Ballots returned through the mail must be postmarked by midnight, June 4. Helm encourages those returning their ballots via the U.S. Postal Service to mail them before June 1.

All requests for ballots to be mailed must be received by the auditor’s office by 5 p.m. May 25.
