GRANGER, Iowa — Firefighters are battling an out-of-control field fire at this hour that has destroyed several buildings and threatens to reach the timber at 17763 V Ave. in rural Granger.
The fire was reported about 3 p.m. on farm land just south of Iowa Highway 141 on V Avenue owned by Warren Herr, according to Dallas County records. The fire has consumed several nearby buildings on land owned by Ed Harney and Andrew Tyler.
Responding to the field fire were the Woodward Volunteer Fire Department, Bouton Volunteer Fire Department, Perry Volunteer Fire Department, Granger Volunteer Fire Department, Johnston-Grimes Metropolitan Fire Department, Dallas County EMS, Granger EMS and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
