CARROLL — Panorama was one of 10 teams playing 18 holes at the Carroll Country Club Saturday as Kuemper Catholic hosted the Knight Invitational.
The hosts shot a very respectable 362 to win by 14 strokes over runner-up Alta-Aurelia (376). Carroll was third at 383 and Harlan fourth with a 386 while Atlantic shot a 399 for fifth. Denison-Schleswig (411), Newell-Fonda (414), Panorama (415), Missouri Valley (427) and Spencer (456) completed the field.
Panorama’s 415 was a new school record for a Par 71 course. Sparking the new standard was a 51-48–99 from Anna Duis, erasing by three strokes Jennifer Forret’s school record that had stood since 1983.
“Although we were not in the top scorers, I am really excited about our round,” Panorama head coach Melissa Hochstetler said. “All of the girls are getting closer to shooting in the 90s. They all have set separate goals for the season and some of them had set this as their goal.”
Madi Fear was second for Panorama with a 53-51–104, with Lauren McClatchey firing a 53-53–106 and Abby Cobb a 58-48–106. Taylor Rabikis had a 66-61–127 that was not used for the team total. The team was playing without Chloe Webster and Jordan Douglass, both of whom are expected to be available Monday when the Panthers play in the 18-hole WCAC tourney at Lakeside County Club in Winterset. The meet, hosted by Earlhim, with begin at 9 a.m.
The Panthers were coming off a 198 Tuesday at WCV, a score which broke the nine-hole record of 200 set in 2005 by the first Panorama girls team to reach the state tournament.
