The Perry Area Emergency Food Council and Lou Hoger, Perry Area Food Pantry site manager, said Thursday they were grateful to workers at the Perry office of the U.S. Postal Service and to the many generous local donors who filled food bags delivered to each postal resident of Perry in May.

More than six carts of food items were collected by postal employees during the May food drive, Hoger said.

“Such a large donation reflects the charitable hearts of our Perry community,” he said, “and assists all those who are food insecure in the area of the Perry Community School District.”

Joining the letter carriers’ union in sponsoring the annual food drive are the AFL-CIO’s state and local labor councils, Jobs with Justice, the United Way, the American Red Cross, the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging and Interfaith Worker Justice.
