Area voters reminded about polling places, ballot choices

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 5 for the 2018 primary election.

Perry-area voters are reminded that Tuesday, June 5 is the date of the primary election, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. throughout Dallas County. Election precinct locations appear in the following table and on the Dallas County Auditor’s website.

* NOTE: Precincts with the asterisk and yellow highlight indicate a change in name or location.

Any voter who is physically unable to enter a polling place has the right to vote from within a motor vehicle. Voters are also encouraged to familiarize themselves with the ballots prior to entering their polling places. Sample ballots are provided below. Not all offices and candidates appear on these sample ballots. Offices and candidates not appearing on the sample ballots but found on the polling-place ballots include:

  • Democratic Party, State Representative, District 20 (vote for no more than one):
    Candidates: Warren Varley
  • Democratic Party, State Representative, District 44 (vote for no more than one):
    Candidates: Kenan Judge
  • Libertarian Party, State Representative, District 20 (vote for no more than one):
    Candidates: None
  • Libertarian Party, State Representative, District 44 (vote for no more than one):
    Candidates: None
  • Republican Party, State Representative, District 20 (vote for no more than one):
    Candidates: Dodge Michael Perrigo and Ray Bubba Sorensen
  • Republican Party, State Representative, District 44 (vote for no more than one):
    Candidates: Anna Bergman and Travis R. Grassel

Voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before they may receive and cast a ballot. Pre-registered voters who are unable to show an approved ID may sign an oath of identification for an election held in 2018.

Voters who are not pre-registered or who have changed precincts also may be required to provide proof of residence. Any voter who cannot show ID may have their identity attested to by another registered voter in the precinct who has proper ID.

Starting Jan. 1, 2019, all voters will be required to present an approved form of identification. For additional information about voter identification, visit the Iowa Secretary of State website
