PANORA — AC/GC grabbed an early 10-5 lead in Monday’s WCAC softball game with host Panorama, only to see the Panthers club their way back in front en route to an 18-12 win.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]
The Chargers (3-4, 2-3) were off to an electric start, shocking the hosts with four runs in the top of the first inning and six more in the top of the second.
However, the Panthers (2-3, 2-3) remained grounded, answering with two runs in their first at-bat and three more in their second to remain within range. A four-run third brought the home team to within a run, with a five-run fourth making the score 14-10.
An AC/GC run in the fifth was countered by three Panorama tallies in the bottom of the frame and one in the sixth for an 18-11 advantage, with the guests tacking on a final run in their last at-bat.
Olivia Richey weathered four rough innings to collect the win. She allowed 10 runs (seven earned) on eight hits and seven walks while striking out three. The junior was relieved by her freshman sister, Grace, who surrendered three runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk while fanning four in three frames.
Panorama belted 15 total hits in the victory and were the happy recipients of 12 walks.
Shey Storesund responded to being moved into the lead-off with a 4-for-5 effort that included a double, two RBIs, a stolen base and four runs scored. Kellie Prince scored four times and drove in four runs with two singles while Hannah Woodworth had two hits and four RBIs for the hosts.
Claire Woodworth provided two hits, two runs and a RBI, with Vallerie Storesund hitting a single and a double. Lydia Knapp added a double, Olivia Richey a base hit and Kennedy Andersen a two-run single while also drawing three walks.
Panorama returns to action Saturday at the Southeast Valley Tourney in Harcourt.
