Memorial services for Violet Margaret Clymer, 101, of Perry and formerly of Woodward will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 13 at Murdock Funeral Home in Perry. The Rev. Jeremy Winter will officiate. Burial will be in Woodward Cemetery in Woodward.
Violet passed away peacefully Friday, June 8, 2018, at Rowley Masonic Home.
Violet Margaret Nielsen was born Dec. 15, 1916, in Estherville, Iowa, the daughter of A. Walter and Anna (Petersen) Nielson of Jackson, Minn.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Union State Line Lutheran Church in Petersburg, Minn.
Violet attended Petersburg Consolidated School and graduated in 1935.
Violet married Ray Harold Clymer June 2, 1938, in Estherville. Three children were born to this union, Donnice, Lon and Vicky.
Violet worked for 27 years at Woodward State Hospital School as a team secretary.
She enjoyed travel, fishing, golf, flower and vegetable gardening and, most of all, spending time with her family.
Violet was an active member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Perry for many years.
Preceding Violet in death were her parents; husband, Ray, on Aug. 29, 2003; and her daughter, Donnice (Clymer) Woods, in 2003.
Left to cherish Violet’s memory are her son, Lon (Ronda) Clymer of Vero Beach, Fla.; daughter, Vicky (David) Wheeler of Woodward; eight grandchildren, Craig Clymer, Curt Clymer, Nickie (Gus) Gastineau, Todd (Natalie) Woods, Tyler (Susan) Woods, Stacy Ann Woods, Matt (Jodi) Sturgeon and Missy (Rodney) Bice; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Floyd Nielson of Wisconsin; and one sister, Alice Muir of Montana.
Memorials in Violet’s name will be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa and may be left at or sent to Murdock Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at murdockfuneralhome.net
