Perry Elks to honor U.S. flag at Farmers Market Flag Day event

The Perry Elks Lodge 407 will hold a Flag Day ceremony Thursday, June 14 at the Josh Davis Memorial Plaza in downtown Perry as part of the Perry Farmers Market.

U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Josh Davis of Perry was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2010. Davis was a 2009 graduate of Perry High School. He was 19 when he died for the U.S. flag.

The Elks will sell flag-themed items at the farmers market prior to a flag-honoring ceremony to be held after the marketplace closes. Perry Scout Troop 127 will assit the Perry Elks in the ceremonies.

The Perry Elks Flag Day fundraiser supports Elks programs for local U.S. military veterans.

The Perry Farmers Market is free and open to the public. The hours are Thursday from 4-7 p.m.

Patriots wear the colors proudly on U.S. national holidays.
