Perry Elementary School students have a sweet incentive to be good this summer thanks to a new program sponsored the Perry Police Department, the Perry Crimestoppers and a local retail store.

Every good boy deserve fun — and every good girl, too — but in the Doing the Right Thing program, they also deserve free popsicles. If local children are observed behaving by officers of the Perry Police Department, they will be issued a ticket redeemable for a free popsicle.

Youngsters will read the following ticket: “You were seen seen ‘Doing The Right Thing.’ Thank you for being a good citizen and ‘Doing the Right Thing’ for Yourself, your School and the City of Perry. To thank you, just return this ticket to your Perry Hy-Vee to receive a Free popsicle. Please continue to set a good example by Doing the Right Thing every day. Issued today by the Perry Police Department.”
