
PLEASANTVILLE — The Panorama volleyball team finished 7-25 overall and just 1-7 in West Central Activities Conference action in 2017. What a difference a year can make.
Panorama’s 3-0 win over new WCAC team Pleasantville lifted the Panthers to 9-4 overall and 5-0 in conference action. The loss sent the host Trojans tumbling to 2-8, 1-4.
The Panthers won the first game, 25-21, before dominating game two in with a 25-11 triumph. The match ended with a 25-19 Panorama win in game three.
Brooke Halterman had nine kills, Morgan Johnk five, Bailey Beckman and Olivia Richey three apiece and Erica Block one. Beckman had two assists for the guests.
Halterman’s six digs led the team, with Richey adding two digs, and Block, Johnk and Hannah Woodworth one apiece.
The Panthers were, in a word, stingy at the net, finishing with 10 total blocks. Kennedy Kuta had four blocks, Johnk and Halterman two each and Block 1.5 rejections, with Beckman providing an assisted block.
Kuta served 19-of-21 with six aces. Richey was 9-11-3, Johnk 9-11-1 and Block 5-8-1, with Woodworth 9-of-9 and Halterman 8-of-9.
Panorama is off until a September 20 visit to Glidden-Ralston, with a Sept. 22 trip to Corning for the Southwest Valley Tourney also on the schedule.
