
ADEL — The Woodward-Granger harriers were in action at the ADM Invitational Monday, with the Hawk girls placing fifth overall and the Hawk boys eighth on the Hillcrest Country Club course.
Ballard had a near-perfect 17 points to dominate the seven-team girls field. Norwalk was second at 51, ADM third at 92, Perry fourth at 123 and W-G fifth at 131.
Ellie Twedt won the girls event in 20 minutes, 24 seconds, with fellow Bombers Caitlin Maher second and Meg Rietz third in 21:14 and 22:12, respectively.
Josie Noland led W-G by placing 17th in 24:54. Ava Petersen (25th, 26:39), Posey Robinson (27th, 26:59) and Natalie Helbling (28th, 27:21) finished in a pack, with Chloe David (34th, 27:50) also scoring for the varsity.
Makenzie Dresback (41st, 30:54) and Bella Milosevich (43rd, 31:52) also competed for the W-G varsity.
Carlisle was the easier winner of the 10-team boys side with 26 points, with Ballard edging ADM, 74-75, for the runner-up spot. W-G was eighth at 225.
ADM’s Nate Mueller (17:15) and Ethan Juergens (17:52) claimed the top two boys individual spots, with Carter Logue of Carlisle third at 17:56.
Alex Bice crossed 23rd in 19:59 to lead the Hawk boys, with Dylan Steele finishing 35th in 21 minutes flat. Xavier Ibarra was 51st in 22:12, Noah Gleason 56th in 22:51 and Kurt Crouse 60th in 24:33, with Alex Foster (62nd, 25:08) also running for the varsity.
W-G returns to action Thursday with a visit to the Roland-Story Invitational.
