No varsity sport can remain competitive without a solid youth program in place, and a wholly new approach to grade 3-6 football -- which has proven successful across the state -- will be coming to Perry this year. Registrations are urged in the next few days.

The Class 3A District 2 All-District teams have been released, with four Perry players named to the All-D2 First Team, with four others earning Honorable Mention status.

Senior defensive back Kaleb Olejniczak and senior defensive end Rony Reyes were both chosen for the First Team. They were joined by junior defensive end Cole Snyder and punter Cori Alamina.

Four seniors were listed as Honorable Mention. Linebackers Xavier Craddock, Connor Kenyon and Justin Stammer were recognized, as was defensive tackle Luke Holtorf.

District 2 All-Academic honors require a player to be a junior or senior, earn a varsity letter and produce a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Jacob Nelson, Kolby Wolfe, Olejniczak and Stammer were the four Perry players to achieve the distinguished honor.

Perry is coached by Matt Hardy, with Ben Coy, Jason Olejniczak, Alan Brasch, Trayon Nash, Tony Oros, Mark Weber, Scott Seeley and Darek VanKirk assisting.
