LEON — Friday nights are rarely reserved for prep wrestling, but the Dan Christenson Invitational, hosted by Central Decatur, is an annual exception to the rule.
Panorama finished 10th in the 16-team event despite competing in only eight of 14 weight classes and with two Panthers unable to post any team points.
MFL-Mar-Mac won the competition with 218.5 team points, with Van Meter/Earlham second at 192 and Creston third at 178.5 Panorama’s 10th-place result was produced by 72 points.
Wyatt Appleseth led the way by placing first at 145 pounds. He was 3-0, with a decision and two victories by pin.
Noah Kirtley was fourth at 160 pounds with a 2-2 mark on a pin and a major decision, with Hunter Holmes (285) fifth on a 3-2 effort that included two pins and a major decision.
Logan Christie (113) was 103 with a decision while Garret Fox (170) had a pin in finishing 1-3. Both placed sixth in their respective weight class while Wyatt Clark was eighth at 138 with a pin while ending with a 1-3 mark.
Emry Colby (152) was 1-3 with a pin but did not place, with James Hein 0-2 at 195 and failing to place.
Panorama will wrestle at AC/GC Thursday before traveling to the WCAC tournament in Ogden Saturday.
