In a three-year tradition of the Perry Rotary Club, members of the local civic group rang the holiday bells for the Salvation Army Saturday morning at the Perry Hy-Vee.
An innovation in this year’s bell ringing saw the introduction of Frankie the miniature horse, who helped solicit lots of nose rubbings as well as lots of dollars for the charitable cause, and Leo the black dog, whose tail never stopped wagging at the visitors who stopped to pet him.
Perry’s Dirk Cavanaugh and Matt Cavanaugh accompanied their four-footed friends during the four-hour fundraiser.
“This is the season of giving,” said Past Perry Rotary Club President Vidergar, “and it is a lot of fun to ring the bells and say hi to everyone who walks by.”
