
OGDEN — The Panorama wrestlers contested nine of 14 weight classes Saturday at the WCAC Tournament, with the highlights for the Panthers being one champion and one runner-up finish.
Wyatt Appleseth was crowned WCAC titleist at 145 pounds, with Noah Kirtley placing second at 152 pounds.
Van Meter/Earlham won the team title with 220 points, with Interstate-35 second at 179 and Woodward-Granger third at 175. West Central Valley (133) was fourth, with AC/GC (123.5), Pleasantville (112), Panorama (93) and Ogden (45) also in action.
Appleseth was 3-0 to improve to 16-1 on the season. His conference title came on two pinfall victories and with a major decision.
Kirtley had a pin and a decision before dropping the title match.
Cooper Anderson was 2-1 with a pin and a decision in finishing third at 182, with Garret Fox 2-2 with two pins in placing fourth at 170 while James Hein was 1-2 with a decision in standing fourth at 195 pounds.
Hunter Holmes had two pins in finishing fifth, with a 2-2 record, at 285 pounds, while Logan Christie was fifth at 113 with a 1-2 mark that featured a win by major decision.
Josh Van Winkle (126) and Jacob Holwegner (138) were both also in action, but each dropped their first two matches and did not place.
The Panthers left the 106, 120, 132, 160 and 220-pound weight divisions unchallenged.
Panorama will finish off the first half of their season Thursday when they host Saydel and Mount Ayr for a non-conference triangular.
