
WOODWARD — Woodward-Granger raced to a 17-point halftime lead Monday en route to a 48-30 win over visiting Grand View Christian in non-conference girls basketball.
W-G (8-10) raced to a 20-11 lead after the first eight minutes of play, then outscored their guests, 9-1, in the second period to take a 29-12 lead into the locker room.
Any chance Grand View Christian (1-17) had of pulling an upset vanished in the third quarter, which ended with the Hawks possessing a 40-17 advantage.
Freshman Emma Anderson led the hosts with 21 points, with her junior sister Mae, adding 11 points. Natalie Helbling provided five points, with Kayley Dresback scoring three points. Ava Petersen, Faith Kuehl, Darby Nixon and Lisa Pitman rounded out the offense with two points apiece.
W-G finished with 12 converted free throws on 24 attempts, with Grand View Christian making just one of their eight attempts.
Sydney Lane had 14 points to guide the Thunder. Karlee Knode had eight points, Emma Owens four and Delaney Thompson and Karley Ramus two apiece.
Madrid will visit W-G Thursday for a WCAC set postponed from Jan. 29, with W-G visiting Des Moines Christian Friday.
