ADEL, Iowa — Dallas County First Chief Deputy Sheriff Adam Infante was appointed to the position of Dallas County Sheriff Thursday at a special meeting of the Dallas County Supervisors.
Infante was sworn in at the Dallas County Courthouse by Dallas County Attorney Chuck Sinnard before a large group of family, friends and colleagues. Infante takes the reins as sheriff from retired Sheriff Chad Leonard, who led the department for over 15 years.
Infante’s appointment caps a 22-year career in the the Dallas County Sheriff’s office, including most recently his service as first chief deputy in command of a patrol of 40 deputies and several civilian staff.
“I am ready to carry on my lead of the Dallas County Sheriff’s office as we navigate through the growing pains of an expanding county and the changing law enforcement landscape” Infante said.
Preceding his appointment as first chief deputy, Infante’s positions within the sheriff’s office included detective, patrol deputy and a special assignment to the MINE Drug Task Force.
He also dedicated three years to the nationally recognized Drug Enforcement Agency Task Force, assisting in several high-profile cases across the U.S., and he graduated from the FBI National Academy’s 271st session, an elite program that admits less than 1% of all law enforcement officers.
Infante said his years of service alongside Leonard have reinforced his commitment and dedication to the citizens of this county.
“We will continue to recruit and retain the finest law enforcement professionals to maintain the high standards of Dallas County,” he said. “With the help of my staff, I am committed to a mission of ethical, effective, and impactful public safety.”
An Iowa native and graduate of Iowa State University, Infante lives in Waukee with his two children and wife, Sarah, who is a successful small business owner and community volunteer. He has served on several local boards, actively volunteers in the community and is a member of Hope Waukee Church. He is a dedicated coach of several of his children’s sports teams.
In his spare time, Infante enjoys exercise, mountain bike riding, family travel and working on his Jeep.
