An Adel man allegedly assaulted his son early Monday in the home.
Eric Brent Harvey, 54, of 1309 Main St., Adel, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 12:30 a.m. Monday in the 1300 block of Main Street, where officers of the Adel Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Harvey allegedly “struck him with a closed fist to the head just above his left eyebrow” and put “his hands around the victim’s throat,” according to court records.
The officers observed on the victim “a red mark and swelling above the victim’s left eyebrow,” according to court records.
Harvey is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 11 in Dallas County District Court.
Harvey was convicted of assault in 1993 in Polk County District Court.
