Adel man allegedly assaults Adel woman, endangers children

An Adel man was arrested Sunday after allegedly striking an Adel woman in theĀ  head with a metal object and endangering two Adel children, one of whom he allegedly injured.

Darel Vivon Livingston Richmond, 37, of 29456 Old Portland Road, Adel, was charged with second-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness, child endangerment with injury and child endangerment.

The incident began about 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the 29400 block of Old Portland Road, where officers of the Adel Police Department responded to a report from a juvenile caller who said that Richmond “threw something at her mother and tried to hit her,” according to court records.

The officers made contact with the victim, who “had injuries to her head and ear from an unknown metal object being thrown at her,” according to court records.

The officers made contact with the juvenile caller, who said that during the course of the domestic dispute, Richmond allegedly “pushed her against the door, which caused injury to her arm,” according to court records. The victim was transported for medical treatment.

The officers made contact with a second juvenile witness, who said Richmond allegedly “forcefully hit him with his body as he exited the residence,” according to court records.

Richmond is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $7,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 19 in Dallas County District Court.

Richmond was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness in 2016 in Polk County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
