An Adel man was arrested Sunday after allegedly assaulting an Adel woman in the home earlier this month.
Brian John Vandelune, 50, of 407 S. 12th St., Adel, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began shortly before midnight on Aug. 9 at a residence in the 400 block of S. 12th Street, where Vandelune allegedly “pushed” the victim “outside the front steps” of the residence, causing her to fall, and then allegedly “punched” the victim “twice in the right eye,” according to court records.
Officers of the Adel Police Department observed on the victim “bruises to her right arm and her lower back” and “significant bruising” around her right eye, according to court records.
Vandelune was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 27 in Dallas County District Court.
*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
