LAST YEAR — ADM scored on a 12-yard pass and a six-yard run, offsetting a Perry rushing score and a 22-yard Ivan Garcia field goal to post a 15-9 win in sloppy conditions. The game was delayed 30-minutes by lightning and slick conditions hampered a Bluejay team that had hoped to rely on a speed advantage.
Frank Weiland was 9-23-1 for 97 yards and a touchdown through the air and carried 23 times for 77 yards and a score. Blake Crannell ran 7 times for 71 yards as the Tigers rushed for 174 in the game. The ADM defense intercepted two passes and recovered two fumbles, with Jacob Hardy making eight tackles and a sack.
Perry threw for 209 yards and ran for 122 more. Tavier Lucas caught two passes for 52 yards, with Eli Saemisch making 9.5 tackles and Kade Van Kirk seven.
ABOUT THE TIGERS — Weiland was 190-of-330 for 2,515 yards and 19 TDs but was intercepted 18 times. He added 324 yards and eight scores on 134 carries. Crannell added 380 yards on 64 rushes and eight TDs while catching 25 balls for 224 yards and a score.
Hardy led the defense with 51 tackles, with seven tackles for a loss and six sacks. He also had 116 receiving yards on 14 snags. Other returners who played well defensively included Nathan Heath (42 tackles), David Howard (28) and Hunter Gibson (27.5).
ABOUT THE BLUEJAYS — Senior Ryan Rathje was 15-28-1 for 255 yards and two TDs in limited action last year. Tavier Lucas (6-111) is the top returning receiver.
Eli Saemisch is the lone rusher back with any substantial numbers, having carried 47 times for 126 yards and one touchdown.
Joe Olvera (63.5) and Saemisch (47) are the top tacklers back for the Jays, with Saemisch making five stops for a loss and Olvera four. Kade VanKirk (36), Adan Medina and Solomon Pierce (34 each) and Jacob Thompson (31) also return for the defense.
