Andrew David, a freshman at Woodward Granger High School, was raised to the rank of Eagle Scout Wednesday.

GRANGER, Iowa — Andrew David, 15, of Granger was awarded the Eagle Scout rank in ceremonies Oct. 9, an honor attained by only 4% of Scouts.

David is the 75th Scout from the Madrid Scout Troop 150 to earn the Eagle Scout rank. His service project involved redoing the horseshoe pits at Edgewood Park in Madrid.

The project was completed in record time because the city asked him to finish before Labor Day. More than 25 people, including fellow Scouts, neighbors, friends and family jumped in to help David make the deadline.

Twenty-one badges are needed to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, and David has so far earned 70 badges. The freshman at Woodward Granger High School is the son of Don and Susanne David of Granger.
