An Ankeny woman died late Friday when her Jeep left the roadway on a curve on Ute Avenue at 340th Trail in southeast Dallas County.
Melissa Jean Sears, 40, was northbound on Ute Avenue about 11:30 p.m. when her 2002 Jeep Liberty failed to negotiate a curve and struck a sign and a tree.
Sears was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a seatbelt.
Sears was transported to the state medical examiner’s office in Ankeny by the Dallas County Medical Examiner.
The Iowa State Patrol, Dallas County Sheriff’s office, Waukee Police Department and Dallas County EMS reponded to the accident.
