A Crawford County man was arrested Sunday by an officer of the Perry Police Department on three Dallas County arrest warrants — for theft, assault and criminal mischief.
Trent Daniel Robinson, 26, of Arion, Iowa, was charged with third-degree theft in connection with an alleged instance of shoplifting Dec. 3, 2019, at a Perry retail store.
According to court records, in-store surveillance cameras caught Robinson “concealing a package of Bars hot dogs and a small container of milk in or under his hooded sweatshirt.”
Robinson has four prior convictions for fifth-degree theft. A warrant for his arrest was issued Dec. 4, 2019, by Dallas County Magistrate Andrea Flanagan.
Robinson also faces a charge of fourth-degree criminal mischief in connection with a Dec. 1, 2019, incident involving a dispute with his girlfriend in Perry in which Robinson allegedly “hit her windshield and broke it.” According to court records, he “later admitted to hitting
the windshield.”
A warrant for his arrest was issued Dec. 16, 2019, by Dallas County Magistrate Donna Mae Schauer.
Robinson’s third warrant, first-offense domestic abuse assault, dates from a June 17, 2016, incident in which he allegedly assaulted his sister, with whom he was residing in Perry. According to court records, an altercation at the residence resulted in “injury to the victim’s left arm, causing bruising and red marks.”
A warrant for his arrest was issued Dec. 14, 2019, by Dallas County Magistrate Jonathan Kimple. All three warrants were served Jan. 6, 2020.
Robinson has prior convictions in Crawford County District Court for third-degree burglary and fourth-degree theft in 2019, disorderly conduct in 2018 and fifth-degree theft in 2016.
In Greene County District Court, Robinson was convicted of fifth-degree theft in 2015, third-degree burglary in 2013 and assault-use/display of a weapon in 2012.
Robinson’s prior convictions in Dallas County include possession of drug paraphernalia and providing false identification information in 2016, third-degree attempted burglary in 2014 and two convictions for fifth-degree theft in 2012.
Robinson is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $3,300 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled to appear in Dallas County District Court for arraignment Jan. 16 on the criminal mischief charge, for a preliminary hearing Jan. 17 on the theft charge and for a hearing Jan. 29 on the assault charge.
