The Perry Police Department has received information that an unknown scammer has been contacting persons by text message purporting to be the Rev. Chris Reising of St Patrick’s Church.
The person sending the scam texts has been asking for gift cards to assist persons who are ill or in need. The person receiving the text is then instructed to purchase a gift card and then text the gift card number and codes back to the scammer.
This is a scam. If you receive a call like this, do not respond.
