
DES MOINES — A total of 22 wrestlers from Perry participated Saturday in the Des Moines North/Hoover JV Invite, all competing in a trio of matches.
Cori Alamina and Rylee Ray were the only two Bluejays to emerge with 3-0 marks. Both scored all three of their wins by fall.
Amos Barrios-Munoz and Carlos Gomez each had two pins in finishing 2-1, with Daniel Cornelio with a pin and a decision, as was Leonard Jacobson, with Zach Darr 2-1 with a pair of pins.
Anthony Chavez was 2-1 with a decision and a pin, with Sergio Gonzalez ending up 2-1 with a decision and a win by forfeit while Byron Melendrez was a winner by decision as well as pin.
Seven Perry matmen were 1-2, including Jose Chavez, Logan Brokaw, Carlos Sandoval, Pablo Calderon and Alan Gomez, all of who won by fall. Mario Saldana was 1-2 with a decision, with Charley Guardado 1-2 with a win by major decision.
Hailey Peterson, Alex Fickbohm, David Muro, Cayden Widen and Brian Hernandez were all also in action for the Bluejays put were unable to find their way to victory.
