The Bock Family Foundation Inc., established in 2002 by the estates of Larry Bock and Barbara Bock, distributed $97,895 to 31 grant recipients Thursday afternoon at a presentation ceremony held at the Perry Public Library.
Since its founding in 2002, the Bock Family Foundation Inc. has awarded grants totaling more than $2.85 million, including grants awarded in this spring’s grant cycle. Foundation President Jon Peters and Executive Director Scott Finneseth distributed the awards to the spring 2025 recipients.
Along with Peters the board of directors includes Vice President Brent Halling, Secretary Joyce Van Kirk and directors Jean Bromert, John C. Powell, Rusty Burgett and Jon Williams.
Spring 2025 recipients were:
Dallas County Conservation Board: $4,308 toward all-terrain adaptive wheelchair
City of Perry Parks and Recreation Department: $3,400 toward bats, helmets and storage for the McCreary Community Building
Perry Public Library/Friends: $1,900 toward KidsFest 2025
City of Perry: $5,000 toward PerryNext Strategic Plan
Perry Scout Troop 127: $1,500 toward trailer repairs
Perry Cub Scouts Troop 127: $1,500 for pinewood derby track, uniforms/shirts, joining and camp fees
Perry Girls Softball Association: $1,000 for softballs
Perry Area Child Development Center: $5,600 for scholarships
Perry Area Child Development Center: $1,100 for infant enrollment and cribs
PACES: $8,500 for Before/After Summer Program pre-K through fifth grades
Everybody Wins! Iowa: $4,000 for reading program at the Perry Elementary School
Perry Alano Club: $3,000 toward electrical system and fire safety
Perry Area Emergency Food Council: $6,000 for gallons of milk
Perry Chamber of Commerce Foundation: $5,000 toward business development initiative
Acorns & Oaks Christian Academy: $2,000 for Micro School K through second grade
Perry Lutheran Homes: $5,000 toward replacing wheelchair-accessible van
Crossroads Church: $2,000 for Care Closet/Mobile Food Pantry
Woodward Community Food Pantry: $3,000 to purchase food items
Washington Township Cons School Foundation: $5,000 toward brick wall repair
Minburn Community Betterment Group: $900 for Meet Me in Minburn concert series
Dallas County Fair Association: $5,000 to purchase additional goat pens
Panther Creek Church of the Brethren: $4,000 for Blessing Box
Good Samaritan Food Pantry: $5,000 for Summer food packs for children
Blue Kindness Foundation: $1,500 toward Safety Day, winter gear, student and random awards
Dallas County Habitat for Humanity: $2,500 toward home preservation and Rock The Block
Overlooked Cat Refuge: $1,000 toward installing insulation at facility
Rhythms of Grace: $2,500 toward ramp, lift, mounting area for accessibility
The Brenton Arboretum: $1,187 for audio equipment, laptop for accessibility
Van Meter Public Library: $1,500 for Wonderbooks & STEAM Launchpads
Heart of Iowa Regional Transit Authority: $1,500 toward fleet maintenance program
Inside Out Wellness and Advocacy: $2,500 toward expanding service modality services
The Bock Family Foundation Inc. benefits organizations operated for religious, charitable, scientific, literary or educational purposes. Projects proposed for funding must be located in Dallas County, and applicants must be a nonprofit organization or a unit of state or local government.
The Bock Family Foundation awards grants in the spring and fall. Application deadlines are March 1 and Sept. 1, respectively.
