Bock Family Foundation awards some $83,000 in grants Monday

In a statement, the Bock Family Foundation Inc., established in 2002 by the estates of Larry Bock and Barbara Bock, said it was pleased to award $83,193 to 24 grant recipients Monday afternoon at a presentation held at the Perry Public Library.

Since its founding in 2002, the Bock Family Foundation Inc. has awarded grants totaling more than $2.5 million, including grants awarded in this spring’s grant cycle. Foundation  President Jon Peters and Executive Director Scott Finneseth distributed the awards to the following fall 2023 recipients:

  • Dallas County Conservation Board: $8,000 to construct raptor exhibit at Forest Park Museum
  • Perry Volunteer Fire Department: $9,340 for RollNRack hose management system
  • Perry Public Library: $2,142.72 for programming and marketing equipment
  • Perry Community School District: $5,250 for safety and security enhancements
  • P.A.C.E.S. $9,350 for before/after summer program for pre-K-fifth grade
  • Perry Basketball Association Inc,: $1,000 for new basketballs
  • Perry Area Emergency Food Council: $3,500 for personal hygiene items
  • Perry Area Child Development Center: $5,000 for scholarships
  • Everybody Wins! Iowa: $2,500 for Power Read Program at Perry Elementary School
  • New Opportunities Inc.: $3,000 for Toys for Tots Perry project
  • Pegasus Inc.: $1,258.62 for new desktop computer and battery backup
  • Dallas County Hospital/DCH Foundation: $2,000 for lymphedema chair for therapy department
  • Dallas County Hospital Foundation: $6,000 for exercise equipment for cardiopulmonary department
  • Perry Little League: $2,600 for L screen, batting cage protector, batting mats and pitching machine
  • Perry Baseball Club: $1,640 for catcher gear sets and equipment bags
  • Presby Childcare: $3,700 for toys and equipment
  • Friends of Hotel Pattee Inc.: $5,000 for prep line equipment and upgrade electrical service
  • Perry Economic Development Inc.” $5,000 towards site-certification to expand Perry Industrial Park
  • Minburn City Hall: $1,000 towards remodeling Minburn City Hall
  • City of Bouton: $2,000 towards Bouton Trailhead
  • Woodward Public Library: $1,000 for upgrading hot spots
  • Waukee Area Christian Services: $1,000 towards fresh produce and culturally appropriate options during off season
  • De Soto Public Library: $911.66 to create makerspace center for STEM activities
  • Dallas Center United Methodist Church: $1,000 towards sound system
