A Boone man was arrested in Perry Tuesday after allegedly threatening to conduct a mass shooting of a Perry woman and her family.
Juan Manuel Partida, 26, of 814 Eighth St., Boone, was charged with assault with intent to inflict serious injury, first-degree harassment, second-degree harassment, going armed with intent and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to court records, Partida allegedly “made multiple threats via text message to cause severe bodily injury to include death via firearm to” the female victim, the victim’s mother, the victim’s minor children and the victim’s “current significant other.”
An audio recording was made about 8:30 p.m. Dec. 20 in which Partida is allegedly heard to “make threats to use the handgun on the victim, her family, her children and officers,” according to court records.
The victim told officers of the Perry Police Department that Partida was allegedly holding a handgun “pointed at her” during the recording, “and she was in fear for her life.” The victim is heard in the recording to say, “Just put the gun down,” according to court records.
“It should be further noted that” Partida “is known to actively carry loaded firearms and has multiple firearms in the home,” according to court records.
Partida is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Jan. 14 in Dallas County District Court.
