A wide variety of events and activities will be part of the evening when Perry hosts Greene County Dec. 17 for a HOIC boys/girls junior varsity/varsity "Mega Night" Dec. 17.

The Perry basketball teams will host rival Greene County Dec. 17. The event is termed a “Mega Night” as both junior varsity and varsity games will be played by both the boys and girls cagers.

JV games are played beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the middle school gym, with varsity action starting at 6 p.m. in the PHS gym.

A wide variety of activities and opportunities will be held in the PHS commons and gym, the Perry Booster Club organizing all.

A silent Cake Auction will be held, with offerings available for the viewing in the commons. All extra-curricular activity and club — and not just athletic teams — have been invited to provide a cake, and a great many are already on board.

Funds raised by each individual cake will be given to the selling club/group/team. Bidding will be accepted until the third quarter of the boys varsity game.

A live auction will be held between the third and fourth quarters of the boys varsity contest. Up for bids is a fun-filled evening at the Hotel Pattee. The winner will receive a cake from the hotel as well as a box of designer chocolates. Dinner for two at the Hotel Pattee and an overnight stay in a classic queen room are also included.

Proceeds from the live auction will be given to the Booster Club general fund.

In addition to the auctions, the JaysNest will be open, selling all manner of apparel and merchandise, with free holiday gift wrapping available.

Sartorial eloquence (or lack thereof) will be on full display as an Ugly Christmas Sweater contest will be held among PHS students, with prizes awarded for first, second and third place.

The Perry Bluejay will be on hand for photos as will, of course, old St. Nick himself. Santa Claus and the Bluejay will be in the commons and happy to meet with youngsters of all ages.

The above treats and special night out will be auctioned off at the end of the third quarter of the Perry vs Greene County boys game Dec. 17. Proceeds will go to the Perry Booster Club.
