VAN METER — On occasion a team will have an outing they would just as soon forget.

Friday was likely one of those cases for the Panorama football team, who suffered a 77-0 beating at the hands of host Van Meter.

The Bulldogs intercepted five Panther passes, returning three for touchdowns, while also falling on a Panorama fumble to help limit their guests to only 62 yards of total offense.

The onslaught began early, with a 45-yard touchdown run, a safety, and a 35 yard TD pass giving the hosts a 16-0 lead. A short TD run and 30-yard interception return for a score moved the scoreboard to 30-0 after only 12 minutes of play.

Scoring bursts for five and 40 yards was followed by a 19-yard pick-six, with a 3-yard dive moving the halftime score to 57-0.

Van Meter (4-0, 1-0 in Class 1A District 7) added a 12-yard pick-six in the third quarter and a pair of TD runs of five yards in the final frame to complete the scoring.

Panorama (1-3, 0-1) tallied 34 yards rushing from Gavin Godfrey on 13 carriers and eight yards on three runs from Austin Block. VanMeer lost three yards on two runs, Braedon Draper four on one tote and Connor Love seven on two carries as the team totaled just 28 yards on the ground.

VanMeer was 2-8-3 for 16 yards passing and Block 4-7-1 for 14 yards while Landon Kirtley finished 1-2-1 for four yards.

Nile Lindstrom (2-10), Block (1-13), Godfrey (1-3), Klayton Bremer (1-6), A.J. Draper (1-4), and Josh VanWinkle (1, -2) all caught passes for the visitors.

Bremer’s seven tackles led the defense, with Cooper Andersen making five stops.

Panorama travels to Interstate-35 (2-2, 1-0) Friday before hosting West Central Valley for Homecoming Oct. 1. All District 7 games kick off at 7 p.m.
