The Perry City Hall was drying out Wednesday after a pipe burst overnight on the third floor and flooded the 114-year-old building.

A local restoration service used numerous fans in order to dry out the Perry City Hall Wednesday after a pipe burst overnight on the third floor of the 114-year-old structure.

“It’s a big mess,” said Perry Building Official Scott Kopecky, whose first-floor office was flooded as were the second-floor offices of the Perry Community School District and the city offices on the third floor.

“When sorrows come, they come not single spies but in battalions,” said a passing citizen in surveying the damage.
