A California man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Friday in connection with incident in March 2024 in which he allegedly possessed and shared via social media videos of child pornography.
Shaun Thomas Kiefer, 30, of 3474 Carl Court, Newbury Park, California, was charged with 10 counts of first-offense purchase/possess depiction of a minor in a sex act and three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor-film.
According to court records, in March 2024 Kiefer allegedly used social media to send some 10 videos of child pornography to another user from a residence in Waukee.
In a November 2024 interview with law enforcement officers of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Kiefer allegedly “admitted to possessing” the “files of child pornography,” according to court records.
A warrant for Kiefer’s arrest was ordered in June and served Friday. Kiefer is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $30,000 cash or surety bind. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 24 in Dallas County District Court.
*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
