A California man allegedly assaulted a California woman in a semi-tractor trailer in De Soto Tuesday night while a 3-year-old looked on.
Jerry Lamar Leigh, 55, of 11338 Lee Ave., Adelanto, California, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and child endangerment.
The incident began about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of Guthrie Street in De Soto, where law enforcement officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in a semi-tractor trailer.
The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Leigh allegedly “grabbed her face with his hand and left a scratch with mild bleeding on her face,” according to court records.
The officers observed on the victim “a small scratch on the right side of her face,” according to court records.
A 3-year-old child was a witness to the alleged assault, which “did occur within the immediate physical presence of the 3-year-old child victim,” according to court records.
Leigh is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 21 in Dallas County District Court.
