What promises to be a “Dyno-mite!” shindig is set for June 30-July 4. The gig, if you can dig it, is an “All ’70s Reunion” with all chicks and dudes who graduated from Perry High School from 1970-79 invited to attend and get down.
The last such All ’70s funkadelic gathering was held in 2010, with hundreds of groovy cats flooding downtown Perry. Repeating the feat would be far out, organizers say, and were cool with laying out the festivities planned.
Attendees may commence to chill Friday, June 30 at 7 p.m. when barricades will carve off a chunk of Second Avenue and Otley Avenue, similar to the area off limits to nerds at past BRR’s.
Adult beverages will be available, and food trucks are expected to line the site as the far out merriment launches.

A golf outing may be held during the morning and afternoon of Saturday, July 1, with a bike ride along the local trails a possibility for those wishing to c’ya later alligator for a bit.
The party swings to the PACE Event Center, 1000 26th St. (east Perry Plaza) beginning at 6 p.m. on July 1. Hy-Vee will cater a buffet dinner until 8 p.m., with the Perry Elks club handling the booze and brews.
Chicago-based “The Student Body” will take to the stage afterward. The group specializes in 70’s reunions and will begin laying down the best American Bandstand tracks, Soul Train smoothness and Studio 54 disco beats from 9-12 p.m.
Sunday, July 2 remains open to bike rides and/or golf, with organizers expecting to have an alumni softball game at Paul and Mary Ann Graves Diamond in Pattee Park at 1 p.m. A fundraiser will be held to help pay for a new scoreboard to the former home site of the Jayettes.

Those still hanging out or living in the area are invited to gather at East Perry Plaza at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4th, where a hay rack will be provided for the classes of 1970-79 to ride in the annual Independence Day parade.
Cost for the dinner and activities is $30 apiece and registrations are required for Saturday evening. Those wishing to attend are urged to get with the program and be hip by registering as soon as possible. Donations beyond those required will be considered Right On! and any excess funds will be donated to PHS Activities.
T-shirts are available and cost $10-$13 with an additional shipping charge for out-of-town orders. To insure timely delivery, orders are requested to be received before June 15.
For more what it is? check out the facebook page for the committee. To register, send your check to Lila Robb, P.O. Box 96, Bouton, IA, 50039 and include your class year!

As of May 1, the Class of ’74 holds a narrow lead over the Class of ’76 for most pre-registrations, with the Classes of 1970 and ’79 in need of some stoking so as not be proven most grody.
A gathering of volunteers (more are always needed) will meet at PACE May 20 and 21 at 9:30 a.m. for some preliminary cleaning and preparations.
