Iowa’s three official political parties — Democrats, Libertarians and Republicans — will all hold their precinct caucuses Monday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. The midterm precinct caucuses kick off the caucus-to-convention process of selecting precinct committees and county convention delegates.
With some seven gubernatorial candidates and seven candidates for the third district U.S. House of Representatives seat now running, Dallas County Democrats face the busiest field, but challengers to Gov. Kim Reynolds in the Republican primary election make the caucuses equally meaningful to both parties.

The Precinct caucuses will perform the following functions:
A. Elect Republican residents of the precinct to serve on the County Central Committee.
B. Elect delegates and alternate delegates to the Dallas County Republican Convention held Saturday, March 10.
C. The number of Central Committee members and delegates to be elected at each caucus is listed above.
D. Propose and vote on platform planks to send to County Convention.
