Carolyn Carris, 86, of Jefferson and formerly of Perry passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at her home in Jefferson, Iowa.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 5-7 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry, with a service held at 7 p.m. Interment will be at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa, at a later date.

Carolyn Sue Carris was born Aug. 1, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Velma Jean Carpenter Bandy. She was raised by Daniel “Shom” and Edith “Peek” Carpenter and later adopted by Rupert Bandy.

Carolyn attended school at Washington Township and graduated from Perry High School. She was co-captain of the girls 6-on-6 basketball team. In 1955 they were state runners up.

She was united in marriage to Robert Dean Carris at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, on July 15, 1956.

Carolyn worked in Perry at Virginia’s Ready to Wear, Dickie’s Toggery, Wil-Do Cleaners, Perry Lutheran Home and Carris Printing.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Perry.

Carolyn enjoyed crocheting, flowers, listening to Daniel O’Donnell, spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In death she rejoins her husband, Robert Carris; Dan and Edith Carpenter; Rupert and Velma Bandy; aunts; uncles; and cousins.

Left to cherish Carolyn’s memory is her beloved dog, Buddy; her daughters, LuAnn (Robert) Tuhn pf Perry and Roberta “Bert” (Everett) Beebe of Jefferson; grandchildren, Brett (Sarah) Beebe, Joe (Kathy) Tuhn, Dan (Amber) Tuhn, Brad (Megan) Beebe and Hillary (Chris) Friestad; great-grandchildren, Robert Beebe, Owen Tuhn, Elie, Emie and Maddux Tuhn, William and Brooklyn Beebe, Aidan and Addison Carlson and Colter Friestad; step-great-grandchildren, Emilee and Caleb Johnson, Megan Thorne, Elli (Bryce) Larson, Zoey, Macy and Brody Vail and Evan and Hailey Friestad; great-great-grandchildren, Ember and Brooks Johnson and Ryver Thorne; sister, Jean Spradley; and cousins.
