Chargers fend off host Panthers in WCC volleyball

PANORA, IA — Visiting AC/GC escaped Tuesday with a 3-1 win over Panorama in WCC volleyball action. Both team sported alternate jerseys as part of a “Pink Out” to promote awareness of breast cancer and to support the battle against the disease.

AC/GC (4-4, 2-2) won the first two games on scores of 25-16 and of 25-20, respectively, but Panorama (3-8, 1-4) stayed alive with a 25-21 win the third set. Unfortunately for the hosts the Chargers were able to notch a 27-25 win the four set to secure the match win.

The Panthers were 80-of-88 serving (91 percent) with 10 aces in the match.

Madison Mincy was 21-21-5 toeing the line, with Jazmyn Sellers 13-14-1 and Jaidyn Sellers 9-of-10. Caitlyn Sloss finished 7-8-2, Zoey Hambleton 17-of-18, Keira Simmons 9-12-1 and Elizabeth Snyder 4-5-1.

Jaidyn Sellers had a team-best 10 kills, with Simmons adding five, Cayden Iredale four and Hambleton three while Mincy, Sloss and Hallie Arganbright each had one. Mincy provided 14 assists, Hambleton, Iredale and Simmons two each, and Arganbright and Jazmyn Sellers one apiece.

Dig leaders were Jaidyn Sellers (15), Mincy (13), Jazmyn Sellers and Sloss (both 10). Hambleton had eight digs, Arganbright, Iredale and Snyder three apiece and Simmons two. Jaidyn Sellers had 2.5 blocks at the net, Hambleton and Simmons one each and Iredale an assisted block.

Panorama returns to the court Tuesday with a trip to Earlham.
