The Perry City Council set the 2021 dates for the legal burning of yard waste from Sunday, Oct. 31 to Sunday, Nov. 21.

The regular three-week fall season for the open burning of yard waste will begin Sunday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. and end Sunday, Nov. 21 at sundown.

All burning of yard waste must take place between 10 a.m. until sundown. Burning is restricted to private property, must occur in the rear of the property and must be supervised at all times.

All burning must be at least 30 feet from any building inhabited by persons other than the landowner or tenant conducting the open burning.

The city of Perry encourages residents to find alternative methods to open burning for yard waste disposal, such as transporting their yard waste to the Perry Yard Waste Disposal Site or bagging up the waste for curbside pickup.

For curbside service, all yard waste except tree, bush or brush materials should be placed in paper yard waste bags with a maximum weight of 40 pounds and set near the street curb in front of the residence.

All tree, bush and brush materials should be bundled and tied in maximum lengths of four feet and with a maximum weight of 40 pounds and set near the street curb.
