Clive couple arrested Monday in alcohol-related incidents

A Clive couple was arrested Monday morning for alcohol-related alleged crimes.

James Joy Paige, 54, of 2544 N.W. 159th St., Clive, was charged with interference with official acts-dangerous weapon.

Daonnise Rhe Waters Paige, 49, of 2544 N.W. 159th St., Clive, was charged with third-offense OWI, driving while revoked, open container, eluding-speed over 25 mph over limit, interference with official acts, leaving the scene of an accident and carrying a weapon while intoxicated.

The incident began about 11:15 a.m. Monday in the 2500 block of 159th Street, where officers of the Waukee Police Department made contact with James Joy Paige, who “entered the garage from inside the residence holding a large knife,” according to court records.

Paige allegedly “held the knife towards officers and was refusing commands” and then “took a few steps towards officers and was still refusing commands,” according to court records.

Paige said to the officers, “I’m not afraid of you,” and “Do me a favor,” according to court records.

Paige “was three times the legal limit of alcohol,” according to court records.

Paige is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 21 in Dallas County District Court.

Paige was convicted of domestic abuse assault-impeding blood/air flow causing bodily injury in November in Dallas County District Court.

In a related incident, Waters Paige was arrested about 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 6 and N.E. Alice’s Road after she allegedly “left the scene of an accident driving at a high speed rate” in a 2013 Ford F150 while “under the influence of alcoholic beverages at the time,” according to court records.

Waters Paige is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 21 in Dallas County District Court.

Waters Paige was convicted of first-offense OWI in 2013 in Polk County District Court. She was convicted of second-offense OWI in 2023 in Polk County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
