Ben’s Five and Dime, a pillar of Perry’s downtown retailing community since 1952, is going out of business, owner Andrea Tunink of Perry announced Monday.

“I am deeply saddened to announce this news,” Tunink said on Facebook. “We will be closed today, Monday, May 27 through Wednesday, May 29 as we begin to prepare for the sale. Doors will reopen on Thursday, May 30 at 9 a.m.”

Tunink bought the landmark business in 2019.
