Dallas Center man allegedly slaps, strangles woman in home

Jessie Glen Adams, 40, of Dallas Center was arrested Wednesday on charges of third or subsequent offense domestic abuse assault and domestic assault-strangulation.

A Dallas Center man was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly assaulting and strangling the mother of his child.

Jessie Glen Adams, 40, of 1800 Linden St., Dallas Center, was charged with third or subsequent offense domestic abuse assault and domestic assault-strangulation.

The incident began about 7 p.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of Linden Street, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

Adams fled the scene prior to the deputies arrival. The victim told the deputies that Adams allegedly “began to slap” the victim “on the face and pull her hair” during the course of a dispute, according to court records.

The victim said that Adams allegedly “then placed his hands around her next and began to choke her,” and “she struggled to breathe during this time,” according to court records.

The deputies eventually located Adams in a neighboring apartment building, and he was taken into custody.

Adams is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 13 in Dallas County District Court.

Adams was convicted of third or subsequent offense domestic abuse assault, assault causing bodily injury and first-degree harassment in February in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of second-offense domestic abuse assault in 2019 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault in 2018 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of assault causing bodily injury in 2016 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
