A Dallas Center man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly commandeering a passing vehicle and forcing the female driver to drive him away.

Wyatt Martin Orr, 35, of 23007 230th St., Dallas Center, was charged with second-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree theft and assault on persons in certain occupations.

The incident began about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 23000 block of U.S. Highway 169, where Orr allegedly was able to “force his way into” a vehicle, where he put the female driver “in fear for her safety,” according to court records.

Orr allegedly “demanded” that the victim drive, claiming “that someone was after him,” according to court records. The victim drove to the home of her parents in Minburn, where she “ran from the vehicle” with Orr “chasing her,” according to court records.

Orr “then saw a Ranger side-by-side, started it and put it in reverse, attempting to steal it,” according to court records, but the owner of the vehicle “grabbed” Orr and “removed him from the side-by-side while it was still rolling.”

Orr then fled into a bean field, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs found him and took him into custody.

Once detained, Orr “demanded to be taken to jail,” and he “kicked” a deputy, insisting that “he wanted to go to jail,” according to court records.

Orr is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $20,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 12 in Dallas County District Court.

Orr was convicted of domestic abuse assault and interference with official acts in 2023 in Dallas County District Court.
