Amanda Mae Croft, 45, of Dallas Center was arrested Friday on charges of first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana, interference with official acts-bodily injury and two counts of assault on persons in certain occupations.

A Dallas Center woman allegedly resisted arrest in Adel Friday afternoon when police pulled her over and searched her vehicle.

Amanda Mae Croft, 45, of 1806 Linden St., Dallas Center, was charged with first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana, interference with official acts-bodily injury and two counts of assault on persons in certain occupations.

The incident began Friday about 3:45 p.m. near the intersection of S. 14th and Greene streets in Adel, where officers of the Adel Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a 2005 Mercury Mariner, driven by Croft.

The officers allegedly “detected the odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle,” and Croft “was asked to exit the vehicle,” according to court records.

Croft allegedly “became argumentative and resistant” when the officers asked her to exit her vehicle. When the officers removed her bodily from the vehicle, she allegedly “began kicking at law enforcement, intending to inflict bodily injury,” according to court records.

Officers attempted to place Croft in handcuffs, and she “began kicking at law enforcement,” striking an officer “in the legs and hip area,” according to court records. Croft “was able to remove her hands from the handcuffs,” and she “again started kicking at officers” when they attempted to handcuff her, striking one officer “in the neck” and kicking another officer “in the wrist, breaking his watch causing it to scratch his arm.”

The probable-cause search of Croft’s vehicle disclosed “a small plastic bag containing a green, plantlike substance” and “a glass smoking device with burnt marijuana,” according to court records.

Croft was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 11 in Dallas County District Court.

Croft was arrested on a charge of assault in 2002, 2009 and 2010. In each case the charge was dismissed in Dallas County District Court. She was convicted of domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness in 2008 in Dallas County District Court. She was convicted of disorderly conduct-fighting or violent behavior in 2011 in Dallas County District Court.
