Plumbing troubles caused the closure of the Dallas County Courthouse Tuesday and Wednesday, with the offices of the Clerk of Court, Recorder and Treasurer expected to open for normal business at 8 a.m. Thursday.
The courthouse was closed “due to water issues,” according to Dallas County Sheriff Chad Leonard. It took several hours of investigation Tuesday to isolate the cause after temperatures in the 115-year-old building dropped to 60 degrees by 9 a.m. and the plumbing in the restrooms ceased to operate.
Rumors swirled Tuesday, with unconfirmed reports locating the malfunction in the courthouse main, the geothermal lines, the fire-suppression sprinkler system and the lawn irrigation system.
A county spokesperson said Wednesday water has been restored, and the courthouse will reopen Thursday morning.
No other county facilities were affected by the water issues.
