May 21, 2021

  • Nicole Scar of Earlham was traveling eastbound in the 33000 block of Mills Civic Parkway when her vehicle was struck by a vehicle, driven by by Debora Linquist of Waukee. No injuries were reported. Damage to Scar’s vehicle was estimated at $1,500, and damage to Linquist’s vehicle was estimated at $5,000.

May 22, 2021

  • Franklin Saypahn of Sioux Falls, S.D., was traveling eastbound on U.S. Interstate 80 when his vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $3,000.
  • Manuel L. Mata, 24, of 1211 Deer Run Dr. N.E., Cedar Rapids, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of driving while license denied, suspended, cancelled or revoked.
  • Maria Estrada Patino of Des Moines was traveling eastbound in the 27000 block of Iowa Highway 141 when her vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $7,500.

May 23, 2021

  • Amrit S. Bassi, 28, of 3601 S.E. Fifth St., Des Moines, was arrested on a warrant for first-degree theft, first-degree fraudulent practice and two counts of forgery.
  • Melinda Owens of Redding, California, was traveling westbound in the 17000 block of Iowa Highway 141 when her vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported Damage to Owens’ vehicle was estimated at $5,000.
  • Christina Chapman of Earlham was traveling northbound on N Avenue when she turned onto Prairie Circle, and her vehicle was struck by a vehicle, driven by Katelyn Cummins of  Indianola. Chapman’s vehicle then struck a vehicle, driven by Geneva Timmerman of Earlham. Dallas County EMS responded and examined parties at the scene. Damage to Chapman’s vehicle was estimated at $4,000. Damage to Cummin’s vehicle was estimated at $3,500, and damage to Timmerman’s vehicle was estimated at $2,000.
