A funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. at the Perry Bible Church at 318 12th St. in Perry. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at the Rippey Cemetery in Rippey, Iowa.

David was born on Oct. 25, 1955, the only child of Ronald and Barbara (Todd) Royce.

He attended grade school in Rippey and later went on to junior high and high school in Ogden, graduating in 1974.

He farmed alongside his father for 25 years and spent most of his life in the Rippey area. Throughout the years, David also worked for various companies to supplement his farming income.

In 1986 he married Deann Hirsch of Paton, and together they had two daughters, Rebecca and Stephanie.

Outside of work, David enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and shopping for antiques.

He also loved photographing wildlife — deer, pheasants, eagles and more — that he encountered while exploring the outdoors or fishing along the river.

David was known for his favorite sayings, including, “Never give up or quit after starting something.” “Anything worth having is worth working for,” and “Whatever you do, whether for someone else or yourself, do the very best you can.”

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca and Stephanie Royce; as well as many dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David’s name to an organization of your choice.
