The Dallas County Hospital has been named a Des Moines Register Top Workplace as well as a National Healthcare Top Workplace for 2025.
The new was announced last week as DCH employees enjoyed ice cream in the hospital’s atrium.
“Our organization works at several levels to try and develop programs, initiatives, events and more to foster a fun and meaningful work environment for everyone here,” DCH CEO Angela Mortoza told the assembled staffers. “From Warm Cookie Wednesday and free coffee from Scooters to free massages, a monthly free lunch, discounted gym fees, discounted childcare and more — all are products of feedback from this team on perks they’d like to see embedded in a broader benefits package, and we hope everyone has found at least one thing or more they enjoy.”
But being named a top workplace symbolizes more than the tangible benefits workers receive from working at DCH, Mortoza said.
“It’s also a reflection of how we treat each other, with respect, care and dignity,” she said. “I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard our team members refer to each other as family. We celebrate, support and even uplift each other when needed, so we owe this recognition to each of you.”
The awards were based on a survey administered by Energage, a human-resources company that collects data on the best workplaces in markets across the U.S. Using the same data as that used in the Des Moines Register Top Workplaces award, Energage has added DCH to a list of the top 250 hospitals to work for in America.
