Dense fog advisory in effect 3-9 a.m. Friday

The National Weather Service office in Johnston has issued a dense fog advisory for the Perry area and the eastern two-thirds of Iowa from 3-9 a.m. Friday.

Visibility of one-quarter mile or less is forecast, with potentially slick conditions from accretion onto untreated roadways and walkways with sub-freezing temperatures.

Motorists are advised to slow down, use their low beam headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead to allow for extra stopping distance and reaction time.

Along with Dallas County, the dense fog advisory is in effect for Winnebago, Worth, Hancock, Cerro Gordo, Wright, Franklin, Butler, Bremer, Hamilton, Hardin, Grundy, Black Hawk, Boone, Story, Marshall, Tama, Polk, Jasper, Poweshiek, Madison, Warren, Marion, Mahaska, Clarke, Lucas, Monroe, Wapello, Decatur, Wayne, Appanoose and Davis counties.

Along with Perry, the dense fog advisory is in effect for Forest City, Lake Mills, Northwood,
Manly, Garner, Britt, Kanawha, Mason City, Clear Lake, Eagle Grove, Clarion, Belmond, Hampton, Parkersburg, Clarksville, Shell Rock, Greene, Aplington, Allison, Dumont, Waverly, Webster City, Iowa Falls, Eldora, Ackley, Grundy Center, Reinbeck, Conrad, Dike, Wellsburg, Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Boone, Ames, Marshalltown, Tama, Toledo, Traer, Dysart, Gladbrook, Waukee, Adel, Des Moines, Newton, Grinnell, Winterset, Earlham, Indianola, Norwalk, Carlisle, Pella, Knoxville, Oskaloosa, Osceola, Chariton, Albia, Ottumwa, Lamoni, Leon, Corydon, Seymour, Allerton, Humeston, Centerville and Bloomfield.
